2017 Campaign - A Boat for Everyone!

"We're more than just a boat

...but we REALLY need a boat!"

We need your help to buy a boat.

How much is needed?
$100,000 (individual donations, grants, sponsorship by businesses)

When do we need it?
    By the 2018 cruise season

We'll post updates here on our Facebook page about progress toward our goal.

Why?

In order to better serve our community, we need to have more control over the vessel we use on Cayuga Lake. For the past 10 years, we have chartered the MV Haendel from Ithaca Boat Tours, and have enjoyed an excellent working relationship. However, there comes a time when an organization needs to grow!

Having a dedicated boat will allow us to:
  • offer new and more flexible service to local schools and organizations
  • partner more effectively with volunteer monitors and lake organizations
  • outfit our vessel with lake-friendly, environmentally sound systems
  • introduce edu-tourism in support of our local educational mission
How You Can Help

We will be running a series of short fundraising drives this year to make tangible progress toward this ambitious goal. We hope that you can help in whatever way you are able. To kick things off, we are starting a spring fundraising drive with a goal of raising our first $10,000 by June 15.

Ways to Contribute

You can make a donation at any time using a credit card through our organization's non-profit profile on GiveGab or via the donate button below. The Floating Classroom is a project of the Center for Transformative Action, a 501(c)3 organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

To donate by check, make the check payable to "CTA - Floating Classroom", and mail to the Center for Transformative Action, 119 Anabel Taylor Hall, Ithaca NY 14853.

We are hoping to secure sponsorship from businesses eager to provide 1:1 challenge matches during our fundraising drive up to a certain amount or for a specified period of time. All sponsors will be acknowledged by name and logo. Please contact us at floatingclassroom@gmail.com or 607-216-2238 if you are interested in learning more.
