BOUYANCY IS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS THE FLOATING CLASSROOM AFLOAT!
The Floating Classroom provides a platform for learning and community-building on Cayuga Lake. We host educational field trips, public eco-cruises, youth programs, and maintain a Community Access scholarship fund to ensure that all may participate! [Learn more about the Floating Classroom.]

What we do on the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom is driven by the recognition that our community is the product of both human history and natural history. We seek to help our communities explore this relationship, using history as a foundation for looking to the future.  A vital community of volunteers and contributors keeps us moving in the right direction. We welcome you in any way you can get involved and support the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom. Thank you!

We're always looking for new people and new ideas! We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds.

Internship opportunities

High school and college students, please consider doing an internship working on the boat or in the classroom with one of the CLFC educational programs.

Spring, Fall & Summer internships provide a great opportunity to be on the lake, and to hone science, art and communication skills.  Interns work along-side experienced crew members during programs for youth and adults.  Our interns also conduct mini-research projects of their choosing.

Winter internships are also available through our Trout in the Classroom program at area schools.

Additionally, we have years worth of water quality data, and there are interesting possibilities for self-directed student research projects involving Cayuga Lake and its watershed.
