Get Involved

Buoyancy is not the only thing keeping us afloat!

The Floating Classroom provides a platform for learning and community-building on Cayuga Lake. We host educational field trips, public eco-cruises, youth programs, and maintain a Community Access scholarship fund to ensure that all may participate!

What we do is driven by the recognition that our communities are the product of both human endeavor, and natural phenomena. We seek to explore and inform this relationship, using history as a foundation for looking to the future. A vital community of volunteers and contributors keeps us moving in the right direction. Thank you!

We're always looking for new people and new ideas! We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds.

Join our community of mentors and educators, help out with website support, fund-raising energy and fresh ideas.
Opportunities are periodically available, Contact for information.

Internship Opportunities

High school & college level internship positions for Fall, Spring & Summer are available!
Fall, Spring & Summer internships provide a great opportunity to be on the lake, and to hone science, art and communication skills.  Interns work along-side experienced crew members during programs for youth and adults.  Our interns also conduct mini-research projects of their choosing.
